FAIRVIEW HEIGHTS, Ill. – The Iowa Central men’s and women’s bowling program competed this weekend at the McKendree Baker Challenge hosted by McKendree University just days after returning from a pair of tournaments in Las Vegas. Both the men and women finished 18th overall.
“It wasn’t our best showing of the season,” said head coach Gregg Haden. “Some of that has to do with the scheduling, but we just didn’t compete well enough mentally.”
Iowa Central competed in the Baker Challenge-format tournament which began on Saturday after returning from a six-day trip to Las Vegas that saw the Tritons return to Iowa late on Tuesday. The results for Iowa Central were mixed this weekend.
“The schedule wasn’t ideal, but also it was just a strange weekend,” said Haden. “On the men’s side we’ve never had all five guys struggle at the same time and that happened this weekend. The good thing is now we have two weeks of practice and one more tournament before Nationals.”
Iowa Central will head to the Backhaul Direct Hoosier Classic in Indianapolis on Feb. 15 and 16 as a final tune-up before the NJCAA National Tournament in Buffalo, N.Y., on Feb. 27-18.
