Head Coach Brent NelsonHead Coach Brent Nelson, is originally from Humboldt, IA and was a 4 sport athlete in high school.  He continued his athletic career at Iowa Central playing basketball for legendary coach Dennis Pilcher.  He considers himself a Triton to the core.

Coach Nelson started playing rugby for the Iowa Falls Rugby Football Club in 2000.  Although he was introduced to the sport in his late 20’s, Coach Nelson instantly fell in love with rugby and it became his passion.  Over the duration of his rugby career, he has played all 15 positions of Rugby Union.  This gives him a good working knowledge of the players’ perspectives in all phases of the game.  Coach Nelson likes to employ a solid, ball control yet attacking style of play in 15’s and an aggressive, fast-paced style in 7’s.  Triton Rugby will operate under the umbrella of NSCRO (National Small College Rugby Organization) which will give the team a format to compete on the Regional and National stage.  Nelson is a 200 level USA Rugby Certified Coach with concussion protocol endorsement. Coach Nelson is honored to be the first ever rugby coach of the Tritons.
