Tritons to face Monroe in Graphic Edge Bowl

CEDAR FALLS - A Top-10 matchup is set for the Graphic Edge Bowl as 10th-ranked Iowa Central will face No. 6 Monroe College.

Kickoff is set for 2 p.m. inside the UNI-Dome.

The Tritons (8-2 overall) have won three consecutive bowl games, a run that started in 2018 with a 34-20 victory over Monroe (10-0).

Iowa Central's only two losses have come at the hands of No. 1 Iowa Western. The Tritons are averaging 43 points and over 475 yards of total offense, led by player of the year candidate Byron Jarrett.

Jarrett is completing 62 percent of his passes for 2,498 yards with 28 touchdowns and just five interceptions. He also has 534 yards rushing with 12 scores.

Daylen Boddie has 621 yards rushing and Desna Washington leads the receivers with 35 receptions for 755 yards and 10 TDs. Cal Weidemann and Jordan Kumm each have over 300 yards receiving.

Noah Epley paces the Triton defense with 60 tackles including 7.5 for loss. Tristin Waugh has six sacks and Iowa Central has forced 26 turnovers.

Monroe enters averaging almost 40 points per game and 360 yards of total offense, allowing 13.6 and 211 yards. Shelton Applewhite Jr. has thrown for 1,929 yards and 22 touchdowns, with Troy Booker adding 497 yards on the ground.

Halim Dixon-King has caught 31 passes for 663 yards and nine scores, while Idrissa Nikiema has 394 yards receiving and LaMarcus Brand 227.

The defense has picked off 18 passes and recovered 15 fumbles.

Tickets are available at the Iowa Central bookstore on the Fort Dodge campus and cost $15 for adults and $10 for college age and under.

Iowa Western, New Mexico Military Institute, Northwest Mississippi State and Snow will compete in the first NJCAA Div. I Championships.
