Track & Field competes at Kansas Relays

LAWRENCE, Kan. – The Triton Track & Field Team competed in the 91st Kansas Relays this weekend and had 1 event champion, 7 top 5 finishes, and a new NJCAA record breaking performance. 

-Payton Roberts won the Women's Shot put with a toss of 14.39m/47-02.50ft and her 9th place finishing throw in the discus (43.06m/141-03ft) was a personal best. 

-The women distance runners had a great day, with Abeba Sullivan finishing in 3rd in the 1500 meter run with a time of 4:47.16, which is the 10th fastest time in school history, Adva Cohen finishing in 2nd (16:07.03) and Winrose Chesang finishing in 8th (17:51.27) in the 5000 meter run, and Marta Lukijaniuk (3rd- 11:18.57), Katy Pfile (8th- 11:40.64), and Abby Gawthorp (10th- 11.49.82) all with personal best times in the 3000 meter steeplechase.  Cohen's time in the 5000 meter run was also a new school, NJCAA, and Israel National Record.

-Thomas Zor had a top 10 finish for the Men, with his 10th place time of 54.95 in the 400 meter hurdles. 

-The Triton Relay teams did well, with the Women's 4 x 800 team finishing 2nd (9:32.16); the Women's Distance Medley Relay finishing 4th (12:59.03); and the Men's 4 x 800 team finishing 5th (7:50.30).
