Triton Track and Field took part in the Western Kentucky University's Hilltopper Relays in Bowling Green, Kentucky this weekend. The Tritons saw 12 top-three finishes in different events. Event winners included Eleonora Curtabbi's winning 1500 Meter run (4:54.08) which was a new National Qualfying time; Courtney Lindsey's 10.35 100 Meter Dash; the Men's 4 x 400 Meter Relay team of Phemelo Matlhabe, David Dunlap, Courtney Lindsey, Ethan Smith who finished in 3:10.74, which is the 4th fastest time in school history and the fastest time in the NJCAA this year.
Other top performances included Lea Grady's 8th place Hammer Throw (49.39m/162-00ft) which was a new National Qualifer and the 5th best toss in school history. Grady's 3rd place throw in the Discus (48.97m/160-08ft) was also a new National Qualfier and the 2nd best throw in school history.
New National Qualfiers for the mens team included Phemelo Matlhabe's 2nd place 400 Meter Run (46.57 – 2nd fastest time in school history), Thomas Bryant's 8th place 400 Meter Run (48.16), Awet Yohannes Steeplechase run, which was the 9th fastest time in school history, and Caden Fenchel's 3rd place throw in the discus (47.56m/156ft – 8th best throw in school history) and 7th place throw in the Hammer (48.45m/158-11ft). Tyler Lienau's 2nd place throw in the Hammer (54.51m/178-10ft) was also the 7th best throw in school history.
The Tritons return to action this weekend at the University of Iowa's Musco Twilight in Iowa City.
