Iowa Central tabbed preseason league favorites

As the seven-time defending Region XI champions, the Iowa Central men's cross country team as picked as the preseason favorites in the ICCAC.

The league split into two divisions beginning this season. Joining the Tritons in Div. I will be Iowa Western, Indian Hills, Southwestern and Scott.

All nine ICCAC programs will be focused on the NJCAA Championships to be hosted by Iowa Central in Fort Dodge on November 14.

Led by Director of Cross Country Dee Brown and head coach Nick Ekel, the Tritons are coming off a third place finish at nationals. They return sophomores Pur Biel, Noah Friske and Chris Levario from last year.

Biel was fourth at regionals with Friske placing sixth and Levario seventh. Overall, Iowa Central held eight of the Top-10 individual spots at the meet a season ago.

Since starting this run of regional titles, Iowa Central has scored as few as 16 points. Since 2004, they own 13 overall crowns and have claimed 11 individual titles including the last eight in a row.
