The Iowa Central Tritons went 1-1 against Luther JV and Iowa Western over Christmas break.
Iowa Central started out slow against Luther College on Tuesday the 2nd, and got down by as many as 12 points in the third quarter. The Tritons finished strong against Luther taking over in the 4th quarter by outscoring the Norse 29-11 in the 4th quarter. Sarah Rolling went 100% from the field scoring a game high 15 points. Brittany West added to Rolling's performance with 12 points, 4 assists, and 3 steals.
The Tritons took on the Reivers in Council Bluffs on Wednesday the 10th, but didn't get the same outcome as they did against Luther. They trailed by 10 at the half, and never could fully recover from the deficit they built. No one scored in double digits for the Tritons, on a tough shooting night for the squad. Iowa Central outrebounded the lengthy Reivers squad, but allowed 30 points off their turnovers. Sarah Rolling lead the Tritons in scoring with 9 points, 3 rebounds. Kira Ward had a tough 8 points, to go with 3 rebounds
"For us, we have to keep our turnovers down, and continue to play the game. We have to continue to trust the process and keep getting better every day. If we do that, we will be alright."
Iowa Central will face Kirkwood in their first conference showdown this Saturday, January 13th at 1:00 PM in Hodges Fieldhouse.
