Brian Ortmeier enters his second season as head women’s basketball coach at Iowa Central Community College. Prior to leading the Tritons, Ortmeier was head coach at Laramie County Community College for four seasons.
In his first year, Ortmeier led the Tritons to the NJCAA Div. II Tournament after winning a district title. Isabell West was named a first team All-American for Iowa Central and also won the ICCAC Player of the Year award. Nevaeh Galloway was named the top defensive player in the conference with West, Galloway, Autumn Dykstra and Carley West making the all-ICCAC team.
Under Ortmeier, Laramie County went 63-58 including back-to-back winning seasons in 2018 (19-12) and 2019 (18-13). The Golden Eagles finished second in the North Sub-Region during the 2018 season.
Before his time with Laramie County, Ortmeier served as the head women’s basketball coach at Colorado Northwestern Community College for two seasons, and also spent time at Dakota State University and McPherson College as an assistant.
Ortmeier, a 2009 graduate of the University of Nebraska, worked on the University of Richmond women's basketball coaching staff for one season as a graduate assistant. He obtained his Master's degree from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2010.
Ortmeier and his wife, Autumn, have two children, Trenton and Rylie.
