The Men's and Women's Cross Country teams kicked off their season this weekend with the Region IX Time Trial hosted by Scott Community College at Crow Creek Park in Bettendorf, Iowa. The heat and humidity were definite factors, but the Triton women finished on top with 31 points while the Triton men finished second with 46 points.
Abeba Sullivan, Florance Uwajeneza, and Marta Lukijaniuk finished in 1, 2, 3 with times of 19:35.3, 20:19.0, and 20:31.4 respectively. Mackenzie Gaherty came in 11th with a time of 23:25.0, Jade Ford came in 14th at 24:10.8, and Stacey Fox crossed the line 29th with a time of 31:27.0.
William Valentin paced the men with a 7th place finish of 17:44.2 while Will Whalen also had a top 10 finish, coming in 9that 14:45.5. Noah Bundrock finished 11th at 17:52.5, Jason Halverson finished 13th at 18:01.9, Trevor Ramsdell finished 15th at 18:15.5, Abdul Mohamed finished 20th at 18:35.2, and Ma'rico Holland finished 23rd at 18:49.0.
The Tritons return to action this Friday at the University of Iowa's Hawkeye Invitational.
