Ettrick, Wis. – For the 2nd year in a row, both the Iowa Central women's and men's cross country teams finished 1st at the Tori Neubauer/Jim Drews Invitational Saturday at Ettrick Golf Club in Ettrick, Wisconsin, which was hosted by the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse. The Tritons, ranked 1st in the women's and 2nd in the men's rankings in this week's U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) NJCAA Poll, finished with 42 points in the women's race and 49 points in the men's race. In the women's race Augustana (ranked 6th in NCAA D2) finished second with 57 points while host UWL placed third with 86. In the men's race Augustana (ranked 6th in NCAA D2) finished second with 57 points while the UWL men also finished 3rd with 73 points.
Top runner's for the Triton women were Winrose Chesang who came in 2nd at 22:02.2, Lilian Busienei who was 3rd at 22:03.2, Abeba Sullivan who was 6th at 22:21.9, Florance Uwajeneza who was 15th at 22:47.7, and Marion Bartilol who was 16th at 22:48.1.
Top runner's for the Triton men were Ezekiel Kipchirchir who was the men's champion, crossing the line at 24:56.2, Jhordan Ccope who was 7th at 25:18.9, Awet Yohannes who was 9th at 25:26.6, Innocent Murwanashyaka who was 13th at 25:38.9, and Milos Pendic who was 19 at 25:47.7.
The Tritons now have their eyes set on the Region XI Championships on Friday, October 26th in Davenport, Iowa.
