Tritons With Another Sweep

ANKENY - For the second consecutive week, the Iowa Central cross country program swept both the team titles and individual races.

The Tritons won the 16th Viking Invitational here Friday night.

On the men's side, Kelvin Bungei earned his second title, crossing home in 26:17. Iowa Central finished with 22 team points as all seven runners placed in the Top-15.

Pur Biel was third, Chris Levario fourth, Noah Friske sixth, Mohamed Mohamud eighth, Hunter Klimek 10th and Darius Brown 15th.

North Iowa Area finished a distant second with 54 points followed by Iowa Western, Grand View, Indian Hills, Graceland, William Penn and Southwestern.

In the women's race, Elenora Curtabbi was first with Chloe Lenoir second and Rosalie Fish third. Curtabbi finished in 18:47 with Lenoir coming home in 19:01.

The Tritons had 17 team points as they held five of the Top-6 places.

Lilia Alvarez was fifth, Kate Miron sixth, Kyleen Irwin 16th and Kirstyn Beaman 18th.

Iowa Western finished second with 69 points followed by Grand View, William Penn, NIACC and Culver-Stockton.

Next action for Iowa Central is Saturday, Sept. 19 at the Morningside Invitational.
