Devon Schewe has had an excellent start to this season with Iowa Central baseball.

Schewe, a freshman from Lakeville, Minn., followed up earning ICCAC Athlete of the Week honors by being named the NJCAA Div. II Pitcher of the Week.

"It is a great feeling to receive this honor," Schewe said. "Just to see all the hard work put in and correlating it to the baseball field is really cool.

"Even though this is a great honor, there is so much more coming from me and this Iowa Central baseball team."

Over two appearances on the mound, the right-hander has struck out 10 and allowed just five hits. He is also the only ICCAC pitcher with two wins, sporting an earned run average of 1.13. 

Schewe plans to attend the University of Saint Thomas and continue his baseball career.

During his 2019 season at Lakeville North High School, Schewe tossed over 32 innings with four wins, three complete games, 54 strikeouts and a 1.95 earned run average. Opponents hit just .183 off of him.

Iowa Central takes on Bryant & Stratton this coming weekend in Jacksonville, Ill.
