Ben DeTaeye came to Iowa Central with hopes to continue competing on the diamond at the Div. I level.
That will happen, as DeTaeye has committed to the University of Iowa.
"I chose Iowa because I've heard great things about the program," DeTaeye said. "They have a lot of technology and know how to use it, which is always exciting. I'm extremely excited to play D1 baseball. It's been a dream of mine since I can remember and being able to reach that goal feels incredible."
An outfielder and pitcher from West Des Moines, DeTaeye hit .242 with two homes, 31 runs, 29 RBI and four stolen bases in 52 games. He also worked 28 walks, sporting a .354 on-base percentage.
On the mound, DeTaeye was 2-1 in six appearances, making four starts with 33 strikeouts in 26 innings. He allowed just eight hits and six earned runs.
"The two years I spent in Fort Dodge as a Triton were truly incredible," he said. "The friendships I made are unforgettable and everything I learned will stick with me forever. I didn't end the way anyone wanted, but I'm thankful for what I had there."
