Area youth will have the opportunity to learn from one of the top community college cheer squads in the nation June 25-27 at the first ever Triton Summer Youth Cheer Camp.
The camp, for boys and girls ages 5-15 years old, will be held in the Career Education Building gym on the Iowa Central Campus in Fort Dodge.
Campers will learn the skills and fundamentals of cheerleading, including cheers, jumps, stunts, dance and tumbling from members of the award-winning Iowa Central Cheer squads and coaching staff.
Two sessions will be offered, with campers ages 5-9 years old attending from 9-11 a.m. and 10–15-year-olds from 1-3 p.m.
Campers will work in small groups to learn different skills and will present a performance on the final day of camp.
"If your child likes to have fun and wants to learn more about cheer, we encourage them to attend," said Amanda Murphy, Iowa Central head cheer coach.
Participants should bring tennis shoes and a water bottle. The cost of the three-day camp is $65 and includes a camp T-shirt and bow.
Online registrations are being accepted on the Iowa Central Cheer website at https://secure.touchnet.net/C20839_ustores/web/product_detail.jsp?PRODUCTID=14&SINGLESTORE=true
