ICCAC Athlete of the Week Honors for Five Tritons
Damarcus Creecy – Iowa Central – Sophomore – Quarterback
Iowa Central quarterback Damarcus Creecy did it all for the Tritons in an overtime thriller against No. 11 Garden City. The dual-threat QB threw for 128 yards and two touchdowns while rushing for 89 yards on 22 carries. His highlight came late in the first half with the Tritons threatening in the red zone: Creecy escaped multiple sacks and made a Patrick Mahomes–style scramble before firing a 15-yard touchdown strike. He is now up to 1,372 all-purpose yards and 19 total touchdowns this season. Creecy and the Tritons close their regular season against No. 10 Butler.
Christian Barney – Iowa Central – Sophomore – Middle Linebacker
Iowa Central linebacker Christian Barney delivered a breakout performance on defense for the Tritons. The defensive signal-caller was everywhere, finishing with 15 tackles and 1.5 TFLs. Barney helped force Garden City's missed kick in overtime by shooting into the backfield for a key TFL that pushed the attempt back. He now has back-to-back games with 10-plus tackles and sits at 56 total this season. It was his best game in a Triton uniform — and it came at the perfect time. Iowa Central travels to No. 10 Butler to finish its regular season.
Nicholas Rajkovic – Iowa Central – Freshman
Iowa Central freshman Nicholas Rajkovic has been named ICCAC Men's Bowler of the Week after winning the individual title at the Mid Iowa Bowling Conference #2. Rajkovic finished first out of 117 bowlers and helped the Tritons place second as a team. He posted games of 198, 222, 223, 211 and 254 for a 1,108 total and a 221.6 average. After a slow start, he responded with his highest score of the day, boosting his team when they needed it. Rajkovic now ranks ninth nationally among all freshman men's bowlers across two-year and four-year programs.
Wren Starmer – Iowa Central – Freshman
Iowa Central freshman Wren Starmer earned ICCAC Women's Bowler of the Week after finishing fifth individually at MIBC-2, helping the Tritons' team finish second. She rolled games of 246 (tournament high), 164, 138, 186 and 172 for a 906 series and a 181.2 average. By the end, she finished in the top 5 at the tournament in fifth place out of 70 bowlers that rolled games during the event.
Tashun Pender – Iowa Central – Sophomore – Forward
Iowa Central sophomore forward Tashun Pender delivered an ultra-efficient two-game stretch against Edison State and Community Christian. Pender totaled 36 points, 16 rebounds and three assists while shooting 89% from the field (17 for 19). Dominant team performances limited his floor time to 37 minutes across both games. He is now averaging 14.8 PPG and 9 RPG while shooting 64.6%. Pender looks to stay hot against Mount Mercy JV and Kansas City Kansas this week.
