Iowa Central's Kris Graewin has been named the ICCAC Div. II Men's Golf Coach of the Year, the league announced.
Graewin led the Tritons to a runner-up showing at the recent Region XI Tournament, securing a bid to the upcoming NJCAA Div. II Championship.
The Tritons, the No. 8 ranked team on Golfstat, won five of the 10 tournaments they played in this season, with three runner-up finishes. Iowa Central qualified for their first NJCAA National Tournament for the first time since 2016-17.
"This award is a testament to the 10 young men on our team," Graewin said. "There were several worthy candidates for this award and I'm very honored that my peers in the region voted for me. I've had tremendous support from administration, colleagues, my parents and even my athletes in helping me continue to grow as a coach.
"I'm looking forward to the national tournament in a couple weeks and I know the team is as well."
Three of the Triton golfers achieved first team all-Region status with their performances last weekend. Tomas Ribiero led the team with third place finish shooting 6-over par in three rounds.
Austin Erickson, who finished in fourth place at 9-over, had the lowest round of any Triton, shooting a 70 in round one. Justin Schipper made the first team after scoring a final round 72, which tied for the third lowest third round of the day.
Nationals are set for May 18-21 in Plymouth, Indiana at Swan Lake Resort.
