2020-21 Recap: Tritons shine on the links

Kris Graewin put together a memorable season for the Iowa Central golf program.

Following a strong fall, the Tritons came on during the spring, capping the year off by placing fourth at nationals behind Joe Forsting, Austin Erickson, Tomas Ribeiro, Justin Schipper and Liam Ross. 

All five had strong rounds during the event with Forsting placing 15th overall. Erickson was 20th, Ribeiro 22nd, Schipper 28th and Ross 45th. 

Forsting's finish was the highest for an individual at nationals and earned him all-tournament and second team All-American honors. Ribeiro and Erickson were honorable mention All-American selections. 

Graewin earned ICCAC Coach of the Year as the team won several tournaments and placed second at regionals.

"We talked all year about doing something special and that's what this group accomplished this week," Iowa Central head coach Kris Graewin said. "This group of young men was able to best any other finish at nationals by an Iowa Central golf team. It's a great accomplishment and something I'll remember forever. Each group has its own personality and this group has been a blast to be around."

On the women's side, Kelly Boleyn qualified for nationals.
