Tritons conclude year vs. Iowa State

Brent Nelson and the Iowa Central rugby program will put a cap on the 2020-21 season this Saturday, hosting Iowa State for a special day of action.

The Tritons will compete with the Cyclones in a 7s match to help Iowa State prepare for the upcoming national tournament that they qualified for. All the action begins at 1 p.m.

"We've had a good relationship with them over the years and are excited to play them once again," Nelson said. "We've had good 7s teams over the years and I'm excited to give them a challenge to help them in their preparation for nationals."

The two teams played in the fall as well.

"We've had a number of kids go on to Iowa State, so playing them is a great way to keep that path open," Nelson said. "With the 7s match, it will be a tremendous opportunity for fans, including the players from the Fort Dodge Stags, see this style of rugby."

Iowa Central is coming off a 40-29 setback to Indiana. Herbert Evans had two tries with Philip Woodhouse and Zavier Ellis recording one each. Harrison Dalton was 3-for-4 on conversion kicks and made a penalty kick.

The Tritons will also honor their sophomores as they conclude their careers at home.
