Iowa Central-Indian Hills begin Region XI play

OTTUMWA - After finishing the regular season against one another last week, the Iowa Central men's soccer team and Indian Hills will open up Region XI Div. I Tournament play here on Wednesday.

The match is set to begin at 1 p.m. with the winner advancing to face top-seed Iowa Western on Saturday in Council Bluffs in the semifinals. The other matchup pits Marshalltown against Iowa Lakes in Spencer.

The Warriors scored a 6-3 victory on their home pitch, improving to 4-6-2 on the year.

Leading goal scorers for Indian Hills are Seba Hererra, Alejandro Contreras and Rui Tsubakihara. The Warriors also claimed a 3-1 victory over the Tritons in the first meeting. 

For Iowa Central, Lucas Hazi Pollacchi has four goals and Danijel Bozic three. The Tritons lost leading returning goal scorer Christian Koffi to a knee injury earlier this year. 

The winner of the Region XI Tournament will compete May 22-24 in a district tournament. The NJCAA Div. I Tournament is June 3-8.
