Iowa Central Names Jody Riskowski New Head Men's & Women's Swimming Coach
Jody Riskowski has been named the new head coach of the Iowa Central Men's & Women's Swimming programs.
"We are excited to welcome Coach Riskowski to our athletic department here at Iowa Central," said Athletic Director, Guy Horn. "Her philosophy aligns with our values. Coach is going to help continue the strong tradition we have here in our swim program."
Prior to Iowa Central, Riskowski was the Head Swim & Dive teams coach at Lawrence. A native of Kearney, Nebraska, Riskowski will bring an array of experience at the collegiate level to the Tritons. "I am very grateful to represent Iowa Central as the next swimming coach," said Riskowski. "I would like to thank Guy and the athletic staff for this exciting opportunity."
A standout swimmer at the University of Wyoming, Riskowski was a sprinter in both freestyle and backstroke. Riskowski's name is still all over Wyoming's top-10 list two decades after she graduated. Riskowski began her coaching career at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis in 2003 as an assistant swim coach. She also worked as the performance enhancement team consultant for USA Diving from 2005-08. She was the head coach at Glasgow Calendonian University in Glasgow, Scotland, from 2013-15, before returning to the United States to work as an assistant coach at the University of Nebraska-Kearney in 2018-19. Riskowski then moved to the prep program at Pius X High School in 2021 before becoming the head coach at Lawrence.
Riskowski holds a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering with a pre-med/honors option from the University of Wyoming, a Master's Degree in Educational Administration from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, and a Doctorate in Biomedical Engineering from Purdue University with research areas that included biomechanics, and assistive technologies in movement and STEM education.
"Iowa Central athletics has such a strong foundation of competing at the highest levels," said Riskowski. "I am excited to start working with the team to continue to build a foundation for student-athlete success."
"Coach Riskowski will excel with her experience and leadership to help push our student athletes ahead into new level," said Horn on Coach Riskowski joining the Triton coaching staff. Horn also recognized Coach Tom Wyllie who is stepping away from the program. "I want to thank Coach Wyllie for everything he has done since joining the Triton in 2022. He will be here to help us with the transition, and we wish him luck in his future endeavors and wait in anticipation for the things to come."
