Dyer blazes to national athlete of week honor

Dashinelle Dyer didn't need much time on the track last weekend to make an impact.

Dyer left his mark in the 100-meter dash, blazing a time of 10.4 to win the event at the Mustang Open hosted by Mount Mercy. The Iowa Central standout set two personal records in the 100 and 4x100 relay, which also placed first.

With his performance, Dyer added NJCAA Track and Field Male Athlete of the Week honor to his resume.

The freshman from Jamaica has qualified for the NJCAA Championships.

Iowa Central competes this week at the Drake Relays and the Kip Janvrin Open before preparing for the Region XI Championships.
