COUNCIL BLUFFS - During the recent Region XI Track and Field Championships, Jaheem Hayles broke the mark in the 110-meter hurdles.
Hayles clocked a time of 13.65 to break the mark in the finals, securing his title in the event at the same time. In the prelims, Hayles went 14.09. He also ranks second in program history in the event.
The Iowa Central men won the regional title, with the women placing second.
Aries Scott, Eliot Cummings and Enoch Antwi all advanced to nationals in the long jump, as did Ashley Micheaux in the discus.
Eight others recorded Top-10 marks in program history, led by Jerome Jessup in the 200. Jessup now sits fourth in the event with a time of 20.81.
Scott is seventh in the long jump and ninth in the pole vault, with Cummings ranking 10th in the triple jump.
On the women's side, Micheaux is tied for fourth in the shot put and sixth in the discus, Victoria Adu is fifth in the javelin and the 4x100 relay of Janae Barksdale, Hannah Connell, Tamara Roby and Odell Frye rank ninth.
The Tritons now set their sights on the upcoming NJCAA Div. I Track and Field Championships, which take place May 11-13.
