The Iowa Central Track and Field Teams were in action again this past weekend, January 27-28 at the Jack Johnson Invitational in Minneapolis.

"We had a great weekend in Minnesota with the debut of most of our combined event athletes," Triton Head Coach Dee Brown said. "In the combined events only the top 16 entered performance will qualify for nationals.  However, the odds of all three women -Paige, Jade and Adeyah- advancing based on their scores in the pentathlon is very very good. All three would have ranked among the top-10 in the nation last year and currently sit second, fourth and fifth nationally."

Waukeem Waters set a new school record for the Tritons in the Men's 300-meter dash, also setting a new meet record in the long jump, jumping 7.56m, breaking the previous record held by former Triton, Odaine Lewis.

"Freshman Waukeem Walters had a heck of a day," said Brown. "He set a new school record in the seldom run 300-meter dash on a tight track.  In addition to that he broke the meet record in the long jump competition enroute to his victory."

Walters' jump moved him up to first in the nation among all NJCAA athletes.

Qualifying for nationals for the men were Zion Campbell in the 200-meter dash, Joseph Asahi Wright in the 800-meter and Roman Kuleshov in the long jump.

For the women, Paige Condon, Jade Jackson and Adeyah Brewster all qualified for nationals in the Pentathlon.

Brewster finished the 60-meter hurdles with Top-10 best for the Tritons, with both Zion Campbell and Ayomide Oyetunji recording Top-10 best finishes in the Mens 60-meter dash. Aries Scott also finished with a Top-10 best in the 300-meter dash. Brewster's time in the 60 hurdles ranks her second in the nation among NJCAA athletes.
