The Iowa Central indoor track and field squads swept the Region XI Championships earlier this month, and both are now looking to build from Top-6 efforts at the 2022 indoor national meet.
"Both of our teams have been ranked fifth or sixth all season long," Triton director of track and field/cross country Dee Brown said. "Both have also beaten a team ranked ahead of them nationally when they defeated Iowa Western en route to another (regional title).
"Our goals are the same as always — we want to be the program other schools are talking about. We want to be a threat to a podium finish (Top-3). I feel confident that we have the personnel to accomplish this goal. Our sweep (at regionals) was a huge catalyst for what's to come at the NJCAA Indoor, as well as our outdoor season this spring."
Iowa Central has a four-event qualifier in Trevon Prince (distance medley relay, 800, 4×800, 4×400). Zion Campbell (60, 200, 4×400), Yared Kidane (600, 1000, 4×400), Ayomide Oyetunji (60, 200, 4×400), Aries Scott (heptathlon, high jump, 4×400), Jakob Sobura-Durma (distance medley relay, 400, 4×400), Waukeem Walters (long jump, triple jump, 4×400) are all three-event competitors on the men's side.
