The Iowa Central Track and Field Teams had a strong showing in their 2023 outdoor debut at the Shocker Invitational in Wichita, Kansas March 24-25.

Qualifying for Nationals on the Men's Team were Tafari Bishop in the 400 Hurdles, Ayomide Oyetunji in the 100 Meter Dash, Waukeem Walters in the Long Jump, Aries Scott and Camron Ventura in the Decathlon, and the Mens 4x100 Relay team of Darrell Woodson, Ayomide Oyetunji, Willy Mabena and Kamijah Carter.

All-Time Top-10 Performers included Ayomide Oyetunji in the 100, Tafari Bishop in the 400 Hurdles and Waukeem Walters in the Long Jump.

"For our first outdoor competition, it was not a bad start despite the weather," said Iowa Central Track and Field Head Coach Dee Brown. "Friday was a bit cool and windy for our combined event athletes and distance runners.  Saturday was a much better day with the sunshine.  We definitely had some athletes surprise us with where they are at already.  If we can maintain our intensity from the indoor season, we definitely have a great shot at duplicating our success during the outdoor season."
