Men's Track and Field Competes at Washington, Mount Mercy

Men's Track and Field Competed at Washington University and Mount Mercy April 1.

Iowa Central runners traveled to St. Louis to participate in the Washington University Distance Carnival on March 31.

Brady Hogan finished in first place for the Triton Men with a national qualifying time of 32:18.30 in the 10,000 Meter Run. Marco Lopez also qualified for nationals in the 10,000; taking sixth place with a time of 32:48.39.

The rest of the men's squad traveled to Cedar Rapids to compete in the Mustang Invite at Mount Mercy University.

Kamijah Carter took first in the Men's 100 Meter Hurdles and 400 Meter Hurdles. Kumunule Gbaley finished in first place in the Men's 200 Meter Run. Tymar McKever took first in the Men's Triple Jump and teammate Rayvon Wright finished in first place in the Men's High Jump.

In the Men's 400 Meter Run, Iowa Central's Myki Kenndedy, Samson Shukuru, Aries Scott, Samori Dobson and Terry McNeil Jr. finished in fifth, sixth, seventh, eighth and ninth places respectively. Joseph Asahi Wright took second n the Men's 1500 Meter run and Baylor Bergren finished in third. Zion Campbell took second in the 200 Meter run and Marreion Marks finished fourth in the 200. Jon Astor finished in ninth place in the Men's Discuss and Jadon Boots took seventh in the Men's Javelin.  Canyon Jones finished second in the Pole Vault and Samson Shukuru took third in the Long Jump. Adreian Roper and Garrison Murray received sixth and seventh in the Long Jump. Donald Lamp finished the Men's Shot Put in sixth place.

The Tritons' 4x100 Meter Relay of D'Quan Williams, Milton Creque, Tim Soko and Sean Folarin finished in third place.

Iowa Central finished second overall in team standings at Mount Mercy.

"At the Mustang Invite in Cedar Rapids, IA it was cold and windy," said Head Track and Field Coach Dee Brown. "The weather was not conducive to great marks in any events; despite that, we did have some athletes who competed very well and posted some seasons best marks."

Next week, the Tritons will head north to the University of South Dakota Early Bird Invite in Vermillion, SD on Friday and Saturday.
