Men's Track and Field Competes at USD

4x4 teams have top-10 finishes at USD

The Iowa Central Track and Field Teams competed at the USD Early Bird at the University of South Dakota in Vermillion, SD April 7-8.  

Finishing in the top-10 in their events for the Tritons were Ayomide Oyetuni, second place, 200-meter dash; Kumunule Gbaley, sixth place, 200-meter dash; Zander Cobb, seventh place, 5000-meter run; and Samson Shukuru, third place in the triple jump.

The Mens' 4x400 relay teams each saw Top-10 Finishes with the "A" squad of Jakob Sobura-Durma, Kamijah Carter, Aries Scott and Trevon Prince taking second; the "B" squad of Marreion Marks, Kumunule Gbaley, Samori Dobson and Alex Hastings finishing in eighth and the "D" team of Baylor Bergren, Rocharn Wilson, Joseph Asahi Wright and Jadon Boots finishing in ninth.

Myki Kennedy qualified for nationals in the Men's Decathlon.

"It was a warm and windy two days in South Dakota," said Dee Brown, head track and field coach. "But we definitely saw some improvement in all event groups.  Hopefully next week we can lose the wind and get a better read on where we are at."

Up next for the Tritons are the Kansas Relays at the University of Kansas in Lawrence, KS and the Jim Duncan Invitational at Drake University in Des Moines April 13-15.
