Standout Performances Lead to ICCAC Athlete of the Week Honors
Jordan Cain – Iowa Central – Sophomore – Guard
No. 10 Iowa Central has been in many big games this season with a variety of outcomes, but there has always been one constant — guard Jordan Cain. He performed at a high level this week in a double-overtime win against Western Iowa Tech and a ranked win over No. 14 Iowa Western. Against Western Iowa Tech, Cain was a physical threat on every trip down the court, scoring 30 points on 7-of-9 shooting and getting to the free-throw line 20 times. Cain finished the game with an 84.27 true shooting percentage. Against Iowa Western, he scored 18 points, but that was not the most important stat. His three steals pushed him to 111 for his career — a school record at Iowa Central. Cain and the Tritons will take on red-hot No. 4 Ellsworth this week in what should be another barnburner between the two squads. The Tritons took the first of the team's two matchups back on Jan. 7 – 91-83 in Iowa Falls.
Taha Ouchene – Iowa Central – Sophomore – 800 Meters
Running the fastest 800 Meters so far in the NJCAA Indoor Track and Field season, Taha Ouchene earned Athlete of the Week honors. At the Cyclone Open, Ouchene, the Iowa Central Triton ran a 1:49.13, surpassing his previous personal best and winning the event. Compared to last season, his time would have ranked as the third-best mark in the NJCAA Indoor season, placing Ouchene in a strong position to be highly competitive in 2026.
Akram Mouaki – Iowa Central – Freshman – Shot Put
Iowa Central's Akram Mouaki placed third in the Shot Put this past week at the Cyclone Open. His best throw was 16.86 meters, falling just short of his season best, but the mark still ranked him second in the NJCAA this season. Mouaki competed in a field filled with upperclassmen and four-year athletes, yet outperformed most of the competition, finishing as the only underclassman to place in the top five in the shot put at the Cyclone Open.
