Numerous Iowa Central softball players were named to the all-Region XI team, led by first team selections Mady Lange, Loghen Schnetzer and Carlie Thompson.
Kenzie Rosenboom, Abby Wilson and Abbie Thilges each made the second team for the Tritons, with Madison Huisman, Rachel Newell, Allyson Stewart, Laila Pelds and Mikhaela Muir making honorable mention.
Lange, a freshman catcher from Humboldt, hit .347 with 44 runs, 10 doubles, three triples, two homers and 27 RBI. She also stole 24 bases and had a fielding percentage of .980.
Schnetzer, also a freshman who graduated from Fort Dodge Senior High, broke the single-season home run and RBI record, finishing with 27 and 83. She also hit .410 with a slugging percentage of .936 and 16 doubles, scoring 61 runs and a .980 fielding percentage.
Thompson, a former teammate of Lange's at Humboldt, ended her first season with the Tritons by hitting .358 with nine homers, 47 RBI, 18 steals and 48 runs scored. She also had 15 doubles and a triple.
Wilson tied for the team-lead with 77 hits, adding 27 RBI and 15 steals. Rosenboom hit 19 homers and drove in 64 runs and Thilges had 20 extra base hits with a team-high 27 steals and 42 RBI.
Huisman led the pitching staff with 14 wins and 166 strikeouts, Newell had 26 RBI and 26 steals, Stewart recorded 34 hits and scored 34 runs, Pelds had 11 homers and drove in 42, and Muir had 12 extra-base hits and struck out 75 batters.
Iowa Central broke the program record for single-season homers, hitting 88 in the first year under head coach Bo Tjebben.
The pitcher of the year award went to Kirkwood's Kori Wedeking, Sophie Maras of Des Moines Area won the offensive player of the year, Randyn Carter of Kirkwood defensive player of the year and Katie King from Iowa Lakes coach of the year.
