Schnetzer, Rosenboom named all-region

Loghen Schnetzer and Mackenzie Rosenboom were named to the NJCAA Div. II Midwest Region teams, the National Fastpitch Coaches Association announced.

Schnetzer was a first team selection as a freshman and Rosenboom made the second as a sophomore.

A former Fort Dodge Senior High all-stater, Schnetzer broke the school single-season home run record with 27 this past spring. She hit .410 with 83 RBI and 33 walks drawn, scoring 61 runs to go along with 16 doubles and a triple.

Rosenboom belted 19 homers as Iowa Central set a new single-season team record for longballs. She also hit .353 with 20 doubles, 49 runs scored and 64 RBI.

Fellow ICCAC players Kori Wedeking, Peggy Klingler and Randyn Carter, along with Des Moines Area's Kaylie Reynolds, Sophie Maras and Abby Husak, and Iowa Lakes' Lexi Chase, joined Schnetzer on the first-team.

Making the second team with Rosenboom from the league were Delaney Vetter of Ellsworth and Laken Lienhard from North Iowa Area.

The 12 squads across two divisions featured a total of 164 student-athletes from 68 programs.

NFCA member head coaches from each respective region vote on the teams, and all student-athletes are now eligible for the 2021 NFCA NJCAA Division I and II All-America squads. Conference players and pitchers of the year from member institutions are added to the second team if they were nominated and not already voted to an All-Region squad. In some instances, limited regional nominations prevent a position from being filled.

The NFCA NJCAA All-American teams will be released on June 4.
