The Iowa Central softball team set a pair of records in their first season under head coach Bo Tjebben.
Despite playing a shortened schedule due to COVID-19, Loghen Schnetzer broke the single-season home run record and the team set a new high-water mark for homers as a collective group.
Schnetzer, named an All-American as a freshman, hit 27 homers and earned several more honors. Iowa Central connected on 88 homers in 59 games with MacKenzie Rosenboom hitting 19 and Laila Pelds 11.
Rosenboom was an NJCAA Div. II Midwest Region pick with Schnetzer. Schnetzer, Carlie Thompson and Mady Lange each made the all-Region XI first team with Rosenboom, Abby Wilson and Abbie Thilges on the second.
"Like everybody else, it was an interesting and challenging year," Tjebben said. "But I could not be more proud of the girls. They continued to get better and, more importantly, they came together as a team and helped set the building blocks in place for the future."
