Softball drops 2 to NIACC

MASON CITY — The Iowa Central softball team dropped a pair of ICCAC doubleheaders to No. 20 North Iowa Area here Sunday and Monday.

cores were 8-7, 2-0, 12-6 and 10-9.

In the series opener, the Trojans pulled out an eight-inning win after the Tritons rallied with two in the sixth and five in the seventh. Amber McKinney and Myra Megli each drove in three runs, with Riley Gilroy recording two hits, scoring twice and driving in another.

NIACC plated two in the fifth off Katelyn Dennis in the second game. Dennis recorded five strikeouts and allowed just four hits, while Gilroy retired five batters with a strikeout.

Sydney Ballard was 4-for-4 in the series opener on Monday with a home run, while Jori Hajek also hit a homer and drove in two.

The Trojans scored four runs in the final two innings to secure the win in the fourth game despite a 10-strikeout performance by Gilroy. She also ahd two hits and drove in two with a homer, while McKinney hit two homers.

Megli and Hajek each added home runs, as Hajek went 3-for-4 with two RBI. McKinney drove in three and Megli two.

Next action for the Tritons will be Wednesday in Council Bluffs vs. Iowa Western.
