ESTHERVILLE — The Iowa Central softball team recorded a split with Iowa Lakes here Friday.

The Lakers won the first, 14-6, with the Tritons rebounding to post a 16-4 victory in the nightcap.

A 10-run first gave Riley Gilroy all the support she would need, as she recorded 12 strikeouts to earn the win. Amber McKinney was 4-for-5 with four runs and a grand slam, adding to her home run in the opener.

Jori Hajek and Gilroy each had homers in the win, with Aleena Sandy hitting a homer in the loss. Both Sandy and Sydney Ballard had two hits in that game, as Taylor Lee struck out six.

These two teams meet again on Sunday at noon for a doubleheader.
