Four Tritons Collect ICCAC Athlete of the Week Honors
Cooper Nicholson – Iowa Central – Sophomore – Second Base
For the second time this season, Cooper Nicholson has earned Athlete of the Week honors after another standout performance at the plate. Over five games, Nicholson went 9-for-16, racking up a double, four home runs, seven runs scored, and nine RBI. One of his top outings came in a hard-fought game against No. 7 Southeastern, where he went 4-for-5 with two home runs and three RBI, proving his ability to shine against elite competition. Nicholson currently leads the Tritons in both runs scored (63) and home runs (18) on the season.
Chris McCormack – Iowa Central – Sophomore – Starting Pitcher
Chris McCormack of Iowa Central delivered a strong outing in a 5-3 win over Northeast this past week, pitching 5.2 impressive innings. He allowed just one earned run on seven hits while striking out seven batters. In his ninth appearance of the season, McCormack added another win to his record, improving to 8-1 in games – seeing a decision in each outing. He currently holds a 2.50 ERA and has recorded 52 strikeouts on the season.
Breanna Nolte – Iowa Central – Sophomore – First Base
Iowa Central's Breanna Nolte has earned Athlete of the Week honors for the second consecutive week after another stellar set of performances. Over the past week, Nolte went 12-for-22 at the plate, tallying five doubles, a triple, and two home runs. She scored an impressive 18 runs, drove in nine RBI, and added two stolen bases. One of her standout performances came in a dominant 24-3 win over Marshalltown, where she went a perfect 4-for-4 with a triple, four runs scored, and five RBI.
Jayda Long – Iowa Central – Sophomore – RHP
Jayda Long earns Athlete of the Week honors after an impressive stretch in the circle, anchoring the Tritons through four dominant wins. Over 14 innings pitched, Long allowed just four earned runs on 13 hits and four walks, while racking up 22 strikeouts. In each of her appearances, Iowa Central secured run-rule victories. Her standout performance came in an 8-0 win over Iowa Lakes, where she allowed only three hits and struck out 10 batters—half of those she faced—highlighting her control and dominance on the mound. Long went 4-0 improving her record to 19-3 this season.
