Tritons receive their assignment for nationals

The Iowa Central women's basketball team will face Macomb in the opening round of the NJCAA National Tournament.

Tip is set for noon on Wednesday, April 21.

The event takes place April 20-24 in Hickory, North Carolina. The Tritons earned their spot with a victory over Des Moines Area this past weekend in Boone in the Region XI-B Tournament championship.

It marks the first time since 2013 that Iowa Central (13-8 overall) will compete at nationals. The program is making its seventh appearance all-time and the first for head coach Brian Ortmeier.

Macomb won the Great Lakes A title and is 11-0 on the season.

Kirkwood, which won the Region XI-A title, earned the No. 1 seed in the 16-team field and will face North Platte.

The Tritons have won eight of their last nine with the lone loss during that stretch coming to Kirkwood.

All games will stream live on the NJCAA website including consolation games. Catawba Valley will host the tournament.

Sophomore Isabell West was recently named the ICCAC Player of the Year with teammate Nevaeh Galloway earning the top defensive player honor. West, Galloway, Autumn Dykstra and Carley West made all-region teams.
