The Iowa Central women started a big week with a convincing win over the William Penn JV here Tuesday night, 67-48 inside Hodges Fieldhouse.
A week ago, the Tritons (3-2 overall) pulled out a 55-51 victory over the Statesmen in the home opener for first-year head coach Sabah Dickerson.
Iowa Central raced out to an 18-4 lead after the opening 10 minutes and led by 12 at the break. They also outscored William Penn 22-14 in the third quarter.
Kaitlyn Tendal, a freshman, scored 16 points with five rebounds, two assists and a steal. Former Fort Dodge Senior High standout Aleaha Pommer added 11 points with six rebounds, two blocks, a steal and two made 3-pointers.
Ten other Triton players all reached the scoring column, with Jayden Frank adding nine and Emily Theiss had eight. Frank also grabbed five rebounds, with Emma Scurek recording nine boards.
Theiss had five of Iowa Central's 11 steals.
Up next for the Tritons will be the Great Western Shootout on Friday and Saturday. The Tritons host Elgin on Friday at 5 p.m. and Highland on Saturday at 4 p.m.
