The Iowa Central Women's Basketball Team picked up a convincing win with a 76-68 upset over No. 5 ranked (NJCAA) Iowa Western in Hodges Fieldhouse Saturday afternoon.

The Tritons, (9-9 overall, 3-5 conference) had three players with double figures with Freshman Guard Kaitlyn Tendall leading the way with 23 points and 4 rebounds.

Freshman Aleaha Pommer had 15 points and Freshman Emily Theiss had 16 points to lead the Tritons.

The Tritons led 23-13 at the end of the first quarter and kept the lead 42-26 at half. The Tritons led 57-40 at the end of the third quarter leading into a strong fourth quarter for the Reivers, who outscored the Tritons 28-19 in the fourth, cutting the Tritons' lead to 8.

The Reivers were led by Courtney Fields with 20 points.

Triton Head Coach Sabah Dickerson credits the team's restructured offense for a strong contest.

"These kids have been coming along all season," said Dickerson. "We've restructured our offense to stay looser on the court and that really showed on the floor today. We had three girls in double figures. They've really trusted their scouts and coaches and believed in each other to get the job done."

"This is a huge win for our program over a ranked opponent; Iowa Western has always been strong, they're fifth in the country," said Dickerson.
