Iowa Falls - A strong second half performance by the Iowa Central Women's Basketball Team led the Tritons past Ellsworth here Monday night 67-46.
The Tritons (12-9 overall, 5-5 ICCAC) were outscored in the first quarter 15-10 by the Panthers and held Ellsworth to 10 in the second, still trailing 25-20 at halftime.
In the second half, The Tritons racked up 25 points in the third quarter and 22 points in the fourth.
Leading the Tritons in scoring were Freshman Kaitlyn Tendal 15 points. Freshman Aleaha Pommer had 14 points and sophomore Tessa Grooms added 10. Brianna Habben and Emily Theiss each had 9 points.
"Overall, we weren't pleased with the first half," said Triton Women's Head Coach Sabah Dickerson. "We worked it out, coming back with a better third and fourth quarter in scoring. We are still working for a more consistent attack to play with a sense of urgency and better execution."
"We've got to give credit to Ellsworth," Dickerson said. "They came out and competed well with us the first half. They were pretty depleted roster-wise and just ran out of steam in the second (half)."
