Prior to Iowa Central, McFall was an assistant coach at Portland State after serving as the head coach at Portland Community College where he took the Panthers from a one-win season the year before he arrived to a program record 21 wins. He led the Panthers to winning seasons in two of his three seasons at the helm. In just three seasons at PCC, McFall saw 14 players move on to four-year schools at the end of their tenure with the Panthers.

McFall has served as an assistant women's coach at Lincoln University, an NCAA Division II school, and worked with men's teams at Indiana University Kokomo and IUPUI at the NAIA and NCAA Division I levels. He also has coaching stops in Australia where he holds dual citizenship along with his U.S. citizenship. McFall served as the Team Australia head coach for the Alexander Basketball Academy Global Squad, an AAU program, and was an assistant coach for the Caboolture Suns. While in Australia, he also worked with the OzSwoosh Academy, a basketball player development academy.

McFall holds a B.S. Degree in Sports Leadership from the University of Wisconsin Superior. He earned a M.A. Degree in Higher Education from Lincoln University, where he coached as an assistant.
