2020-21 Recap: Tritons go back-to-back on lanes

For the second consecutive season, the Iowa Central women's bowling team hoisted the NJCAA title.

The Tritons rolled into Lansing, Michigan and dominated, finishing over 100 pins ahead of runner-up Barton.

Korrissa Johnson led three players in the Top-6 of the individual standings, finishing third. Madison Ross was fourth and Allison Christenson finished sixth.

"We are always a strong team in Baker's and that was true again on Friday," Iowa Central head coach Gregg Haden said. "The women were able to come through in some big moments and really had a great day."

The Triton men did not leave nationals empty-handed, as they finished second led by Raymond Wiegand, who was fifth overall.

Wiegand and the Iowa Central men also competed at the Intercollegiate Team Championships Sectional Qualifier, finishing fifth. The women also qualified but were unable to bowl.

The honors continued for Wiegand, as the sophomore became the first Iowa Central bowler to be named to the National Collegiate Bowling Coaches Association All-American team and was the 2020-21 Iowa Central Male Athlete of the Year.

"Ray was an integral part of Iowa Central's bowling success over the past two years," Haden said. "His selflessness showed by helping anyone who came to him for help. He worked hard, practiced hard and studied the game hard, which helped lead to his success.
