2nd Place Finishes for Triton Golf at Triton Invitational
15 teams converged on Fort Dodge for the 2025 Triton Invitational held on Friday (4/11) and Saturday (4/12) at the Fort Dodge Country Club.
After a solid first day in near perfect conditions the Triton Men and the Triton Women sat in second place. Filip Jarheden and Ivanna Becerra Diaz paced the Tritons with scores of 71 and 75. Bailey Doe, playing on the Iowa Central B team, fired a 69 to hold a tie for the individual lead heading into Saturday's final round.
Saturday would see tougher conditions with stronger winds for the teams to contend with. Doe responded with a 74 to capture the individual men's title by one stroke over Mad Svendsen from Southeast. Doe finished the tournament shooting even par (141) with scores of 69-73.
As a team, the Triton Men finished second after posting a 28-over, 169. Southeast won the team title with a 154. Filip Jarheden paced the Triton with a 4-over, 146 to finish sixth and Colby Ramsdale fired back-to-back 74's for a top-10 finish in tenth. Eric Zuniga (13th) and Benjamin Christy (17th) collected top-20 finishes.
"I'm very pleased with how well Bailey played all weekend. A result like this truly shows the depth of our team," said Triton Head Coach, Kris Graewin. "We know he has a ton of talent and so do his teammates. Bailey winning the tournament individually wasn't a surprise to any of us."
On the women's side, the Tritons finished second to Briar Cliff by just eight strokes with a 64-over, 205. Becerra Diaz carded two birdies and an eagle on her way to a round of 73 and a second-place individual finish behind Helene Getz Bergmo from Briar Cliff. Olivia Eckert (5th), Jenna Kramer (7th), and Brooklynn Backoff (8th) all finished in the top-10 for the Tritons.
"Ivanna had an amazing tournament. Being able to play as well as she did over two days and have a chance to win was awesome," said Graewin. "Our ladies really rallied around each other this week and played some great golf"
Up next for the Triton Men is the North Central District Preview on Monday (4/13) at Whispering Creek Golf Club in Sioux City, IA. The women travel to Council Bluffs on the following Monday (4/21) for the Bent Tree Intercollegiate Showcase at the Bent Tree Golf Club.
"We are right back at it on Monday with our District Preview. We'll get a good look at what's to come later this semester," said Graewin. "I'm looking forward to what we can accomplish the rest of this spring."
