For the second consecutive dual, the Iowa Central wrestling team flexed their might, this time at the expense of Ellsworth.
The ninth-ranked Tritons earned bonus points from seven wrestlers in downing the Panthers, 40-12 here Wednesday night inside Hodges Fieldhouse.
From Aidan Harris at 125 pounds through Jorden Pryor at heavyweight, Iowa Central (2-4 overall, 2-3 in ICCAC) looked the part.
"We're getting there," Iowa Central head coach Luke Moffitt said. "We've still got things we need to clean up and contine to work on, but our energy was good and our wrestling from the beginning through until the end of each match was much, much better than earlier this year."
The Tritons recorded 19 takedowns on the night, with the Panthers (0-4, 0-4) getting just six. All six came in one match for Ellsworth, who earned a fall and a forfeit.
Harris put Carter Littlefield away in the third with a technical fall while Couy Weil followed with a one-sided decision at 133 pounds over Martin Santana.
Iowa Central started a run of six consecutive wins with Andrew Gamble's 15-0 technical fall at 157 pounds over Ricardo Santana with Keaton Geerts and Jose Rodriguez receiving forfeits. At 184 pounds, Chuy Gutierrez topped Jared Landsperger, 11-2, and Hugo Harp claimed the third Triton technical fall of the night over Larry Everfield at 197, 18-3.
Pryor finished it off with a first period pin vs. Chris Sanchez.
As Iowa Central continues to make the push towards the NJCAA Championships, Moffitt knows now is the time to be doing all the little things right.
"It's just so important to geet those extra points here and there," he said. "It shows that they are listening and doing what we ask of them - both in practice and out on the mat."
Iowa Central has now picked up dual victories over Iowa Lakes and Ellsworth by a combined score of 83-22 since placing second at the North Central District Championships earlier this month. The Tritons close the regular season with Iowa Western next Wednesday.
The NJCAA Championships take place April 21-22 in Council Bluffs.
