The United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association announced regional award winners recently.
And Iowa Central was well represented among the list of winners.
Jordan Burkholder, who led the Triton men to a 16th consecutive Region XI title and was named conference coach of the year, was named the Midwest Region Coach of the Year.
Burkholder, in his second year at Iowa Central, has the team ranked first in the nation and midwest region. Triton athletes enter nationals with 24 marks ranked in the Top-10.
Justin Anderson was named the Midwest Region Assistant Coach of the Year. In his fourth season coaching the sprints and hurdles, seven Tritons in four different events, plus the 4x400 relay, are headed to nationals.
Hurdlers Jaheem Hayles and Dashinelle Dyer rank first and second in the nation under Anderson.
On the women's side, Victoria Adu was tabbed the Midwest Region Women's Field Athlete of the Year.
Adu, a freshman from Germany, is ranked first in the nation in the weight throw and ninth in the shot put. Her mark in the weight throw ranks third all-time in NJCAA history and is the division's best mark in the past five years.
