Hannah Murray, who helped lead the Iowa Central volleyball team to an unbeaten ICCAC regular season title last year, has continued to find success at her new school.
Murray, a native of Ankeny, was recently named the Oklahoma Panhandle State University Female Athlete of the Week.
The junior helped lead the Aggies to a pair of victories in the Sooner Athletic Conference over Central Christian and Langston. Murray had 25 kills, 17 digs and a block vs. Central Christian and followed that performance up with 16 kills and 10 digs vs. Langston.
Murray admits there has been a learning curve coming to her new school, but credits Iowa Central head coach Sara Horn and other members of the staff with helping get her prepared for NAIA volleyball.
"The transition from Iowa Central to OPSU has been a bit of a challenge. From getting used to the new professors and classes, to trying to find a bond on the court with all my new teammates," Murray said. "But OPSU volleyball made it a lot easier, and the girls on the team are super accepting and already feel like another family. I can't describe how much Iowa Central has prepared me for my new school.
"Miguel Secor, our weight coach, prepared my body and mind to accept and attack any challenge that's thrown at me. Coming from a program led by Coach Horn and Coach G has given me such an advantage because I learned how to face adversity head on. I'm super blessed to have come from such a great program and I'm excited to take some of what I learned to OPSU."
Murray finished her two-year career at Iowa Central with 289 kills, 75 total blocks, 1,011 digs and 65 aces.
