No. 1 Tritons pick up two more wins

LEE'S SUMMIT, Mo. - Top-ranked Iowa Central improved to 31-0 on the year with a pair of wins here Friday.

The Tritons topped Metropolitan in four and swept St. Mary's JV.

"We had a pretty slow start vs. Metropolitan," Iowa Central head coach Sara Horn said. "We had a couple different challenges presented to us and it took us a little too long to figure out how to overcome them. I think we all learned a few things that I think we can take with us the rest of this season, and I hope this match makes us better in the long run.

"We had a couple big offensive performances out of a couple people, so it was great to see some individuals step up and help the team pick it up."

Angel Baylark had 19 kills, Brooke Dobson 16 and Jori Hajek 15. Alesha Johnson dished out 48 assists and Baylyn Johnson had 24 digs. Natalia Kellerman and Alesha Johnson each had two serving aces.

Baylark had nine more kills vs. St. Mary's with Dobson recording eight and Hajek six. Alesha Johnson had 26 assists, Baylyn Johnson 15 digs and Bailey Dugan 10 digs, three kills and three block assists.

"The second match was much cleaner and it was nice to see us play back closer to our normal level of play," Horn said. "Overall a good day to get out of our comfort zones and figure out how to win a couple games."

Iowa Central (31-0 overall) heads to Southeastern on Wednesday.
