Katilyn Steffes exploded last week for 146 kills in six matches for the surging Iowa Central Tritons. Iowa Central picked up six wins including a 3-2 upset of No. 1 Cowley (Kan.) and a 3-0 sweep of No. 20 North Dakota State College of Science. Steffes leads the nation in kills, 597, with 99 more than second-best (Northeast's Karley Heimes). She averages 5.19 kills per set, also most in the nation. Steffes had 21 or more kills five of the six matches last week, including a career-high 32 in the win over Cowley. The Tritons put their 22 match winning streak in conference games versus Division II opponents on the line against NIACC on Oct. 19.
