Tritons Dominate on Sophomore Night in 50-6 Win Over Iowa Lakes
The Tritons had no trouble on Wednesday (2/5) night in a 50-6 victory over Iowa Lakes on Sophomore Night at Hodges Fieldhouse. Before the match, the Tritons honored their eleven sophomores. Being only the second class of sophomores in programs history, they've been an instrumental part in helping build the program.
"It was great to honor such a dedicated and special group. This group has meant so much to the program," said Triton Head Coach, Zak Hensley, on his sophomores. "There were a lot of mixed emotions, as we were thrilled to honor them but sad that we closed out their final home dual. This group has left an everlasting impact on our program, and we cannot wait to see how they lead our team into the postseason."
Currently ranked seventh in the country, the Tritons won ten of eleven matches in the victory with six forfeits, technical falls from Rhonda Faye Auradou and Kammie Schanz, and falls from Lacey Reed and Alexis Ross.
Up next for the Tritons is the ICCAC Regional Tournament on Saturday, February 15th in Council Bluffs. Wrestling begins at 9:00 AM.
