Dahmouch leads Tritons with New School Record

SIOUX FALLS, SD - The NJCAA 4th ranked, Iowa Central Men's cross country team finished 8th of 30 teams at the Augustana Twilight Cross Country Meet. The team was paced by freshman Mohamed Dahmouch and his 4th place finish over the four mile course.  Dahmouch ran a time of 18:27.53 which is the fastest time in school history!  Sophomore Hamza Mohamed (18:48) and freshman Brian Kirwa (19:01) finished 12th and 21st respectively. Both runners ran times faster than the previous school record and now own the second and third fastest four-mile times in school history.  Finishing out the top seven for the Tritons were Chase Deiter (125th – 20:42), Evan Paplow (149th – 20:57.9), Rodney Maracle (184th – 21:14) and Ben Reyes (187th – 21:15). 

The NJCAA 5th ranked women's team finished fourth overall out of 20 scoring teams. Marie Garret led the team with a personal best time of 17:55.48 to finish 23rd overall. Garret's time is the 11th fastest time in school history. Last week's ICCAC female Athlete of the Week, Yididiya Bifa finished in 31st with a time of 18:12. The strength of the women's team so far is their tight pack. The next three runners for the Tritons, Abbi Hutchinson, Imane Jourji, and Maud Lambotte finished in 37th, 41st and 43rd places, all under 19 minutes. Sophomore Natalie Bogdanova Kirilova finished in 86th place with a time of 19:35, which was two and half minutes faster than her performance here last year. Aliva Edens (105th – 19:57) and Darylinn Cook (238th – 25:23) were the final two runners for the Tritons.

Iowa Central will return to action in two weeks at the Woody Greeno Invitational hosted by the University of Nebraska.
