Iowa Central stuns Kirkwood

The Iowa Central men's basketball program went on the road for the second consecutive game in the Regional Tournament this week, this time to Cedar Rapids to play #1 seed Kirkwood Community College. And just like they did on Tuesday night, Iowa Central upset the #1 seed by a score of 75-74. Tray Croft's pull up jumper with 4 seconds left proved to be the difference in the game. "We battled on both ends of the court tonight to get this victory. We got down by 14, but give our guys credit, they just hung around. We got key stops on the defensive end and started making shots on the offensive end. What a win for our guys. I'm really happy for them. We really showed some mental toughness tonight to win this game." Said Dennis Pilcher, head coach of Iowa Central.

The Tritons outscored Kirkwood by a score of 40-29 in the second half after being down by 10 at halftime, 45-35. Iowa Central was spearheaded by Tray Croft, Royshawn Webb and Collin Shannon in the second half. "I thought Collin Shannon might have played his best game of the season tonight. He hit some huge 3's for us in the second half. Royshawn hit some big 3's in the first half. And obviously Tray was just Tray. But this was a really good team win." Said Pilcher.

With the win, Iowa Central is now 21-11 overall. They advance to the Region XI Championship game where they will face the defending National Champions, Southwester Community College. Game time will be at 3:00pm in Creston.
