ICCAC Athlete of the Week Honors for Jacobsen, Mitchell
CJ Mitchell – Iowa Central – Sophomore – Point Guard
Iowa Central sophomore CJ Mitchell was called on to step up with injuries to other starters, and he answered. The point guard led the Tritons to two conference wins, and an undefeated record overall. He totaled 41 points, 11 assists, four blocks and shot 7-of-13 from 3-point range across the two games. He delivered a big-time performance against Iowa Lakes with 20 points, six rebounds, five assists and two steals to propel the Tritons to victory. Mitchell is second on the team in points per game with 15.3 and is shooting nearly 50% on 3-pointers.
Ashlin Jacobsen – Iowa Central – Sophomore – Guard
Iowa Central sophomore guard Ashlin Jacobsen has been named an ICCAC Athlete of the Week after a solid two-game stretch. Jacobsen filled up the stat sheet, totaling 45 points, nine rebounds, eight assists and six steals over 80 minutes of action while shooting an efficient 16-of-27 from the field, 11-of-16 from beyond the arc and 2-of-2 at the free-throw line. Specifically, she excelled in the Tritons blow out win over Southeastern. Jacobsen exploded for 33 points which was propelled by nine made three pointers, a school record.
